Computer and POS Accessories

Order check-card readers, receipt printers, and other computer accessories

Should you need any receipt printers, check-and-card readers, PIN pads, or other computer accessories to use with PaymentMate, you must first ask your First Data or TeleCheck representative to order these for you. If your representative cannot order the accessories for you, you may order them from our sales assistance team. We will have them shipped from our supplier to your business by courier. Your representative must give us authorization before we may ship the computer accessories to you, but we will contact him or her for you.

Our Complete POS System and Accessories

Pharmacies using the Pharmacy Edition of the PaymentMate software, and other retailers, appreciate the value of the PaymentMate POS. This full and affordable POS system includes a touchscreen computer with the Microsoft® Windows® Embedded POSReady 2009 operating system, and the latest version of the PaymentMate software. Recommended Check Imagers and Card Readers

Whether you want to process checks, or cards, or both, your First Data representative will help you decide what computer-compatible device will best meet your business' needs. Many recommend the RDM EC7000i or the MagTek Excella MDX for processing electonicly funded checks or cards. The EC7000i and MDX scan images of both sides of each check, so they are approved for the new TeleCheck Pro21 service add-on. (Pro21 lets you process more than just personal checks, and electronically funds nearly all checks—including payroll, traveler's and insurance checks.) Each device also has a built-in magnetic card reader for swiping credit, debit, gift, FSA, or HRA cards. To process multiple checks quickly and efficiently, nothing beats the MagTek Excella multi-check imager. Just drop a stack of checks in the hopper and process them as quickly as you can type an amount and click a button in the PaymentMate software. The PaymentMate software not only submits each check for electonic funding, but also saves images of every check scanned by the EC7000i, MDX, or Excella.

More Check and Card Readers

We recommended that you use one of the above devices for processing checks, or checks and cards. However, the PaymentMate software does support other devices, such as the MagTek MICRImage check scanner and card reader, the MagTek Mini MICR check and card reader, and the MagTek USB card reader. Since the MICRImage scans an image of only the front side of each check, it is not compatible with the new TeleCheck Pro21 add-on service for processing nearly all kinds of checks. But the MICRImage is compatible with most non-Pro21 TeleCheck services, and has a built-in magnetic card reader for processing credit cards and gift cards, too. If TeleCheck does not require you to save an image of each check, the Mini MICR might be adaquate for your business. The Mini MICR costs less but does not scan check images. Like the MICRImage, it also has a built-in magnetic card reader. If you are processing only credit cards, but not checks, debit cards, FSA cards, or HRA cards, a MagTek USB card reader might be a more cost-effective solution.

PIN Pads

For processing PIN debit cards, we recommend the First Data FD-10C and FD-30 PIN pads, which each have a built-in magnetic card reader. If you have existing PIN pads, ask your First Data representative whether you may use them or should order the First Data PIN pads.

Receipt Printers

You may use nearly any printer to print receipts and batch reports with PaymentMate. However, thermal roll-receipt printers are the best option for most businesses. Thermal roll-receipt printers have a small footprint, which gives you more counter space. Thermal printers also save you the cost of ink, as they do not require ink cartridges to print. We offer two receipt printers.

If your computer does not have a 9-pin (DB-9) serial communications (COM) port, you may need a serial-to-USB adapter cable for your MagTek check-and-card reader or PIN pad. The two adapter cables are available.
